Like you say, not unexpected. In fact, I'd be more amazed if they had secured it. You do need physical access to the vehicle.. or do you?

You seen any of the recent OnStar ads, where they advertise their ability to remotely disable a moving vehicle? They can also send you diagnostic info about your vehicle without ever physically accessing it. Now I wonder how they do that? Bet it doesn't involve a lot of extra parts or special loads of firmware. Now they wouldn't abuse their access and do something dangerous, but did they think about how to secure the system so hackers couldn't get in? Maybe, maybe not.

Put the two together. If that doesn't scare you at least a little, it probably should.
