You say front axle, do you mean the front crossmember i would unbolt to remove the motor from my car out the bottom?

front crossmember, or front axle carrier as called in the w/shop manual, are the same. I would keep the W110 one as the 6.3 tend to bend due to the weight of the engine.
With a bit of luck your W110 driveshaft will be the correct length. Flange it will bolt on the flex disk.
