Good chance that the body shop put the gizmo through the wrong slot in the grill.
On the grills that I've seen, there's a gap made for it and the others have no gap. Too high or too low would explain your problem. It's easy to move. There's a circlip on the pin. Pull the pin and move the gizmo.
