This seems like a common practice. I will have to recheck mine I've put over 1000 miles on the car since doing the valves for the first time all where tight.

Where are the nuts wearing ? The threads from continuous loosening and tightening or the outer edges due to overzealous mechanics ?

These are used as jamb nuts right ? The lock is when they are tightened together ?
