Sorry to create confusion,..what I meant about the ignition timing is that I checked the distributor points to #1 coil post at Top Dead Center. Also on the 1985 500SEC isn't the timing somewhat computer controlled? I also checked compression last week and on a COLD engine it was 150 psig and a few weeks ago I checked it at 170psig on a very warm engine. These numbers seem good to me. I did notice that the little plastic insulating piece on the side of the distributor where the green double wire comes in from the ignition control unit was busted a little but the wires still seem to be intact. I am leaning towards a faulty distributor but wonder if there are any continuity checks or resistance checks I can do to determine this? Thanks, Brant
