Starting with the W202 production in 1994, the compressor has variable capacity & "rarely" ever cycles.

The older W124 chassis doesn't have that design.

Using variable capacity compressors that run 99.99% of the time means that the SHOCK of the compressor clutch engaging at 3000 RPM is eliminated & compressor life is doubled!
