When I do a reset after an oil and filter change it shows 10,000 miles until the next service indication. But, since I don't drive much it takes about 12,500 to 13,000 miles to trigger the FSS, so I change the oil and filter at 6,000 miles then again when the service indicator comes on. Also, I only use MB filters and Mobil 1 0w-40.
I'm also a big believer in changing the air filter at half the recommended mileage.

Others may disagree, but that's my method.
