I finally registered for the EPC, that should comprehensively clarify any future purchases. I didn't know you can search a part number and it would give the chassis/model compatibility. Thanks!

This EZL "looked" right because it has 4 plug connections (plus the vacuum) while most standard 300E have 3 connections.

So I've learned:
  • Use the EPC to confirm applications for used EZL's
  • Same year SL EZL's apparently do work for CE
  • Check for 8 pin on the two large plugs
  • Use the thermal paste and maintain the ignition system
