Well, the SD male plug on the back does not spin, as the one for a 123 is a more conventional female square socket that accepts a spinning cable.
I don't know how the electronic cable attaches to the cluster, but it seems to have a slot, maybe something fits in there. You'll notice no threads on the SD cluster either.
