I fixed my odometer a week ago. The gear on the shaft driven by the worm gear (through the odometer numbers) was not touching the worm gear. I assumed the previous owner had done this on purpose. I pushed it back into place, seemed seccure enough. The gear is not loose on the shaft. Odometer worked great, so did the trip odo.

My odometer stopped working again, same problem.

Will lubricating the worm gear keep it from pushing the shaft away?
