Thinking about this as a whole project inc. costings, not sure its such a great idea to use 605, or build up a 605 by combining parts--Just to save a little weight....

Yup, the 606 will be heavier with its extra pot over the 605, but it aint gonna be Hugely heavier.

In the US, the 606 is available--reasonably--easily I'm guessing. The extra costs of getting a whole 605 imported or building one from parts will probably be much more than getting a good 606 to start with!

If it were me, I would plumb for the 606 and use the dosh saved to alter suspension/wheels tyres accordingly if it proved necessary--I'm guessing with the extra power, you'll need to alter this lot anyway.

There have been guys who have fitted 603 and 606 to the W201 chassis, it may be an idea to search 'em out and see what they say as to how the handling was affected....
