First time on an a 190/W201 probably took me about an hour and a half to get the dash out. I found dropping the steering column made it much easier to pull the dash out of place. The extra room is not required but probably save time in the long run.

If you were to remove the SRS air bag and set it off under the dash, it would probably take much less time.
