I always spend the extra couple of dollars & put it on a flat bed. I did tow the SD about 400 mi from NC to TN with the drive shaft disconnected. Shaft was a pita but it was Sunday & no flat beds or mechanics were around. Don't make more work. IF you mess up the tranny or rear end, it will cost you much more than the trailer upgrade.

85SD 240K & stopped counting painted, putting bac together. 84SD 180,000. sold to a neighbor and member here but I forget his handle. The 84 is much improved from when I had it. 85TD beginning to repair to DD status. Lots of stuff to do.
