I am not entirely clear on what you mean. The Plug/Connector I believe has a central Nut or Screw that keeps it shoved in.

The Ignition Switch (not the Key Tumbler is retained with 3 screws).
I believe it has been covered before in the DIY links.

I have not done this job before but about 3 months ago there was a thread concerning changing the Ignition Switch and in this case the Key Tumbler was OK and the Key could be turned into any position. They said they still had to remove the Steering Colum Lock assembly from the Colum because the 3 Screws that held the Switch in were too hard to get at.
So from the above info it may be you need to look at the Steering Colum section in the Factory Service Manual and see about removing the whole Steering Colum Lock assembly.
