People have been known to install a new primer and leave the old copper crush washer from the old one on the pump housing and land up with two washers which won't seal well at all...you might want to double check that you didn't do that. It is easy to do because you need to pick the old washer out sometimes with a dental tool and if you don't then it is left behind and causes trouble...just a thought.
