The newer m110 manifolds will give you the dual exhaust you want, but the pipes feed into a single resonator and single muffler and exit as two pipes. This eliminates the need for an equalizer pipe between the two pipes. If you're thinking of making it completely separate dual exhaust, it won't be close to original and it will make a hell of a racket without fabricating an equalizer pipe.
I agree with you; your current system sounds a bit loud and funky - kind of like the little front-wheel-drive cars with fart-cans that all the stupid teenagers drive around Cincinnati.
