Get in touch with Larry. I have a pretty unusual 85 Euro 280E 5 spd manual. It has 118K miles with an incomplete service history. Very good compression 180-185 PSI across all 6 cylinders.
When I got the car it had been sitting for a couple years which is normally bad news for FI. The car had been brought to the States very shortly after delivery in early 1985 from the factory in Stutgart. Initially, I thought the car ran fairly well but the more I drove it the worse it ran. The WUR on was worthless as a core as it had no atmospheric or vacuum ports. It was evidently something that these federalization companies used.
Larry custom built me a Bosch WUR based on the last version for the Euro 280E and he even punched the correct number into it. I lucked out on the FD and the injectors as I had expected to have to replace them but in the end they were good. We put the entire FI system back to factory Euro spec.
The car runs better than I had hoped it would. I think it cost me about $ 1200 to put the system back to stock. It runs like a bat out of hell down country roads or on the highway. Starts immediately and idles perfectly. It is very strong for a 2.8 straight MB six cylinder.
I think the WUR cost was just over $ 300 and that was because I didn't have a rebuildable core WUR. You should be able to get your Bosch WUR rebuilt for under $ 300 which is a deal when you consider that some new Bosch WUR's have gone over $ 1000 from MBCC.
Here's a link with more info. There are a couple others related to sorting my 280E on this board as well.
