I have finally decided to do something about my fuel tank gremlin in my 1987 300TD. The car runs out of fuel at about 1/4 tank. When I fill up it only takes 14 gallons. I am missing about 3 gallons of capacity. This is consistant everytime. (2years) A while back, my fuel sending unit went bad and I replaced it. When I removed it the bottom aluminum plate was missing. I would guess it is in the tank and has lodged somewhere. I suspect that it is the cause of my problems. Any suggestions? Mine is to remove the tank. Never done it but I am willing to try. Any advice would be appreciated.
