83SD rear end

In the manual the procedure to do this job is 25 pages long, and that does not include the possibility of needing to rebuild the joints, do you know how long the problem has existed? hopefully the joint is not full of debris, the manual also lists special tools to do this, you would be better off doing an r&r of the axle (DIY) as a hole rather than replace the boots, used ones cost about $100, rebuilt ones about $200 and new cost $300 or more, just doing the boots cost about $100 if you find someone with the correct tools, there is a possible alternative, I saw that a company named Cosmos International makes a split boot kit for the w126 and other Mercedes models. Here is there ph# 1-800-221-2668 I do not know if the number is still correct, give it a try.
