I had a very similar problem. It turned out to be the blower regulator which got overheated and then cut back the speed to minimum regardless of what I did to the controls. When it cooled off again it was fine, and the problem only occurred in summer. The regulator is mounted on the blower housing and is very easy to replace. I got a good price from George Murphy.
