I agree that the MB dealer price for this is comical. I called Fletcher-Jones and also Caliber Motors, both in California, for price quotes. You also need the bracket kit. I then went to my salesman and told him that I would pay him the lower of the quoted costs (can't recall exactly) plus one hour shoptime to install it in my new car. He agreed. Cost ended up right around $600 which is still to much but it's better than the first number. The console must be disassembled to plug the unit in but besides that the car must be programmed to accept it. This the tech did with his laptop.
