I know many people whose older MBs are with State Farm. If I remember correctly, they offer stated value service. However, I have no personal experience with their prices nor service.

My Allstate agent's posistion was that their claims adjustor would consider paperwork from a licensed appraisor if the car was appraised both before and after modifications. Also, keep all receipts to present in a legal action.

There is a lot of recent information on the Car Talk website about Low Jack and similar devices. An MB installation probably runs around $1000 + monthly fee.
