300e Auxillary Fuse Melted

Hi all. I just had my engine replaced and the oil level sender light came on after drving a couple miles (will get my old one from the last engine tomorrow). I checked the level sender and wire to make sure it was tight. Then I checked my fuse box and noticed that my auxillary fans fuse was melted. I had another of the same and replaced it but my fans have not kicked on yet and the temperature hovers around and above the 100 degree mark and about 95-97 when driving. It use to be a couple clicks above the 80 mark and when it got hot and fans kicked on, you could see the temp gauge drop back down to around what I guess is 85-95 degrees. That hasn't happened yet. I'm going to go back to the shop but what should I have them look at or is there something I can check on my own? Could this issue have caused my last engine to overheat while climbing a grade out of nowhere? 1991 300e 3.0
