The only oils I know of that really allow an extended drain interval are the full synthetics (Mobil-1, etc.). Even then, I wouldn't push it past 10,000 miles (if that much) with a turbodiesel. An article I once read quoted Mercedes talking about using their vehicles in "harsh" environments, which cuts all service intervals in half. They went on to say that turbodiesels should really be treated as if they are in a harsh environment all the time.
