I suspect (but do not know for sure) that some of Mercedes' o-ring sizes are "special." Several years ago I tried to find a duplicate of an o-ring (don't remember which one) but the foreign car parts places had only "generic" sizes and none were a good enough match.

Your idea to put together a kit so that you have your own private stash for future work is a good one. There are some o-rings that should be changed regularly, like the pair on the oil filter tube, but many people wait until they turn into plastic and shatter then wonder what happened to their oil pressure. Crush washers often get re-used but eventually you have to replace them. If you do put together a kit, share a list with the forum and where you got them.
