I'm grateful that my mother bought me a guitar when I was 8, I do sorta wish I'd somehow been drug to piano lessons. Piano playing is a big component of the actually successful musicians, whether piano is their primary instrument or not.

I agree. I learned flute as well as guitar.
The advantage of learning piano, IMO, is that you see ALL of the music. I see a single line, and can follow that single line. The piano player sees ALL parts, and their inter-relations.
