Chain Saw Help - Oiler mainly

I have an older Poulon chain saw, bought about 96, 17".
This things been a workhorse, over the years we've had a lot of storm damage etc, starts easy, comfortable, more than good enough for the heavy duty home user.

OK, using it a lot the last couple of week the oiler doesn't seem to be working.
last time I sharpened the chain (this weekend) I cleand everything out as best I could. Found what I thought was the tube from the oil chamber, cleaned it up real good. But I didn't take it apart heavily. Still doesn't seem to be using any oil, I can hear the way the chain sounds and obviously the oil chamber didn't need refilling.

Before I really tear this thing apart can anybody give me a brief description how it works and any suggestions how to clean it.

Last other than the basics, I keep the chain sharp (I'm on my 2nd or 3rd and have a new spare already), clean it and blow it out good regularly, never store with gas in it etc.
But that's all I've done, any recommended maintenance.
