The manual you are working from is generic = it covers more than ten years of the 722.xxx transmission.

You have a 722.323
Don't allow the book to confuse you.

Clean everything in the valve body, replace the seals and gaskets, lubricate it with fresh transmission fluid..

Submerge the valve body over night in a pan of fresh transmission fluid.

Replace the Bowden cable if damaged MB# 1263002930, and re-install the valve body.

I have attached a picture of the available valve body parts.
