I've had my 22" grill stock webber thermometer all the way around back to 140 more than once. There are spots in the side where the enamel has popped off, and at one point it rained and the red/orange grill lid was changing color as the drops hit.
Drill a hole for the air compressor hose pipe, get a pallet load of Kingsford and fire it up! I think I'd take the legs off and set it in a pit dug in the dirt first though..
