Here's what's happening.

I'm buying a new car... Bare bones VW GTI. Cheapest dealer in the country is in Providence, RI. Saves me about $1500 from any other dealer within a 3 hour drive of here. I also get to pay my very low local sales tax (7.3%) rather than the almost 9% at these other dealers.

I'm considering flying in Friday before the meet to pick up the car, and attend the meet on Saturday.

Would I be shunned?
