Tricky predicament - to be an employed bartender who ultimately has to have a lung removed courtesy of long-term smoke exposure, or to be an unemployed bartender with two good lungs who might, just might, find alternate employment.

How was that calculated? What changes in business patronage are caused by this bill? Smokers don't go out? Smokers go out but not as often? Smokers drive to neighboring states to light up their Marlboros?

I would like to have a chance to go out and have a nice dinner without having to endure cigarette smoke from some mindless slob at the next table who just has to have a cigarette with his post-dinner coffee. Yes, I know all about smoking and non-smoking sections in such places. I also know that they often don't do the intended job.

I really don't care if a smoker wants to turn his lungs black. Just leave my lungs alone.
