It is a puzzling story. If his account of the raid is accurate, that's way too far into jack-booted thug territory. I can't imagine they had any indication that Gibson staff were likely to respond violently to a group of, say, 5 or 6 policemen doing an inspection of the wood in question.
I don't go along with the notion that laws in India are of no concern to us. We expect them to honor our intellectual property rights. It frequently doesn't happen but that doesn't mean we want the Indian govt. to do nothing.
