It's because young Americans don't
want jobs. We, as parents of those young Americans, have done such a good job of seeing that they don't have to struggle and work as hard as we did that they now have no idea how to work. It's easier and more profitable to live off of Mom and Dad.
When the 19 year old (who is either flunking or not attending college) lives at home, has a nicer car than the parents, an iphone or Blackberry, Hollister or Gap clothes, all the tattoos one could ever want and gets up every day at the crack of noon....why work?
