I offered what a physicist would say, "the speed of light in vacuo is fixed."

If useful use it. If not ignore my remark.
What I wrote is exactly correct. The speed of light varies with the medium through which it passes. More generally, electromagnetic radiation ... etc.

In each medium it is constant for that medium.


Space, absent matter, remains a medium.

Michaelson-Morley demonstrated the ether is unnecessary for the propagation of light but did NOT demonstrate that space (absent matter) is non-existent.
