Definately use the oil seperator, it will cut down on oil consumption, and maybe save it from an untimely death if anything happens to cause much oil, or mist to form under the valve cover, which if sufficient in volume would result in a runaway engine..

Point of note for those not familiar....the 78 and 79 300SD had no oil seperator at all.
