Thanks for the sympathy, given the two situations I would gladly take yours. In regards to the cleaing of the contacts, the problem I experienced when I was trying to do just that is that the contacts are a series of ball bearing held between a series of contacts and once the unit is opened .... well cleaning the contacts are no longer the bigest problem you have. But this in the end creates the motivation needed to search out and purchase a new switch! I found the part at www.auto-parts-wholesale.com for about 67.50 plus shipping.
