Most of the places I have been to there are so few pumps compared to gas pumps. Every fuel station sells gas, not every one sells diesel. The position of the pumps can get blocked by gas people. As such, sometimes you have to wait to get to the pump although there are gas pumps available. It is better, I'll admit, at the truck stops but not the city gas stations. Also, the pumps tend to be dirty and I have to wear gloves to pump fuel. The floor usually has diesel spills. On top of that, gas prices are stable while diesel can vary up to 10 cents a gallon between this station and the next one a block away.
I bought diesel when I had to drive 200 miles a day. At that point, the mileage made it worthwhile. However, since that stopped, I don't feel it is worthwhile anymore for me, at least when you factor in the hassle. It makes fueling up the vette or the Harley a pleasure. Pull in, pump and go.
