Yes the steel line is correct. The sensor/hole is on the adapter plate between the engine and trans. You would be able to see it if you view down between the filter stand, and the firewall.
By the way, you seem to have a LOT of rust there!! I would hate to see underneath the body on that car! (we Californian's are not used to seeing rust!).
