I have managed to do the valves on these engines without the curved wrenches, but it is total murder. It also may cause you to compromise on a setting because it may so difficult to do it one more time to get it more precise.
The wrenches are a good investment if you are planning on driving this car for any length of time at all. With the curved wrenches, it will be much easier to fuss with each valve until you have precisely the correct setting.
They are about $60.00 and probably available from PeachParts.com. Buy these wrenches and do the job yourself once, and you've paid for the wrenches.
