Value is subjective at best

These cars have taken a tumble. Great if you're a buyer, not so hot if you're a seller. I just bought a '79 450SL with under 80,000 original miles, original paint, zero rust, two owners, in the south all it's life. Superior to the '72 in that they solved the overheat problems by pushing the cats downstream, other than that about the same car. Paid $7300.00

If the miles are over 100,000 and no one has done a timing chain, tensioner or guides, it is a time bomb.

With good documentation, no rust and proper service you'd be OK asking $5000. If the history is unknown it is a dice roll. No one in the know is going to pay anywhere close to $9500. Check out Craigslist for local car prices.
