If your state allows it, what could be wrong with running perfectly legal plates on a car you just purchased??

worst case. . .you get in an accident. its your fault. . If you are within the legal time limit (lets say 7 days) You are 100% insured just as if the accident happened in the car whom the plates actually belong.

That's how MA works. . .gotta check with your state. In MA there are no such thing as "temp tags" A car is fully registered and insured, or it's not on the road.
