E320 seat cover removal

I am also trying to get at the seat guts on my 95 E320. Specifically the head rest motor area. I tried to remove the back seat cover, by removing the two screws and then slowly pull the leather out (with a screw driver) from whatever is actually retaining it on the seat cover. After gouging for about 1/2" on the driver's side bottom corner, I noticed that the material was starting to unravel (seems to be stitched together with thread along the edges and the thread is breaking). Don't know if I'm doing something wrong and am looking for better instructions. The CD shows to do exactly what I'm doing, but I get that worried feeling that I am going to screw up an expensive piece of leather / tx.
