My new project...

Still have a bit of work to do on it, but its starting to shape up nicely.

For those that can't tell, its a w124 grill frame, that I have shaved the badges on. its coming out real nice so far on the prepping and priming. and the filled holes are working out nicely.

I used JB Qwik. and I have sanded the chrome around the holes before the jbquik. I applied it on both sides, to fill the hole. one side was atped, then filled. then the tape removed and it was filled from the other side. then sanded down and primed and sanded many times to fill the little imperfections and smooth it out.

I have yet to finish priming the whole frame, but when done it should be the perfect painting surface smooth, and ready for application of several paint layers and several top coats, with plenty of wet sanding and finally polishing to bring out the shine.

I hadn;t originally planned on shaving the laurel wreath star badge, but then decided why the hell not. Its an extra grill frame I have.

I may take it to the bodyshop and have them do the painting, but we shall see. I'm not too concerned if its not a perfect match, you wont be able to tell, plus not really worth it for me to waste the expense of having them paint it when it will chip and need to be redone again anyway. I figure if I paint it black, it will be fine, since my car is pretty much black unless you look at it int he right light.

if anyone wants a write up of this, I'll be happy to work on it.

Alon
