Thanks guys. I have the wrenches and feeler gauges. I also have a compressing tester kit I bought from Harbor Freight. I feel a bit uncomfortable taking off the valve cover though... All those linkages... ack!

Good catch Yak. Yes my air cleaner mounts need to be changed. I have them. Just need to do it.

Tell me what you guys think about this... Once I get the valves adjusted and the compression tested and if EVERYTHING looks really good, I was thinking about getting a paint job... The hood and roof are slightly faded. You can't tell at night but during the day you can see the glossiness of the paint job is totally gone... I would obviously keep the same exact color. Would that be something worth doing? Is it expensive? I would only do this if the engine is tip top. It's almost got 270,000 miles on it.
