shadetree77, that is pretty ambitious! you could get 120VAC from an inverter device, though for AC it'd have to be a big one; or, quite possibly, from a switching power supply, which would be smaller and likely more durable.

however, i assume that factory AC systems are always belt-driven rather than electrical because it's more efficient to skip the alternator & electric motor step, not to mention power conversion.
