rdc5000,

If the lights are working but accessories inside are not, you should start by checking fuses. You also need to check the battery cable connection to the starter and the primary starter wire.

Use a voltmeter on the primary wire and get somebody to turn the switch. With the switch turned to start, you should have 12volts. Be careful, because there's always a possibility that the engine might start while you and your voltmeter leads are sprawled across the engine compartment.

Also check voltage on the big lead at the starter. If you have voltage in both places, then the solenoid is the likely problem. The earlier suggestions to tap the solenoid is not what I used to do with the lug wrench. I would use the none lug bolt end of the wrench to quickly short the battery cable connection to the big bolt below that connects to the starter. If you bump this once, it will almost always start. Once it starts, you need to pick up or order a solenoid and replace it within a week or two, because it will happen again sooner or later.

Hope to see you there,
