Yes. The clusters earlier cluster will fit the later car. They are the same part number according to the Mercedes EPC.

Be careful when removing them though, I believe the 124's are outfitted with mechanically driven speedometers. So there is a cable coming up from the transmission that drives the speedometer. Pulling on the cluster without giving the cable slack will cause damage to the cable and possibly the speedometer head itself.

If its anything like my 190E, it was far easier to lift up the car and undo the cable from the transmission, giving it plenty of slack for removal.

Some others prefer wedging their hands behind the cluster and unscrewing it that way however my hands are not so capable.
