You don't need special MBZ hose but you do need metric if you want the best fit. If you use the closest SAE hose it will work but make sure you buy new clamps because the stock ones won't fit on nonmetric hose. Make sure the hose you use is made for fuel. I have kinda forgotten but I remember that the main line attaches at the front/bottom of the tank and the return line attaches at the top of the tank under the seat/cargo bed. There are also a couple of lines that attach to the passenger side of the tank that go to the expansion tank behind the spare tire. These are a PITA to remove because you have to lower the tank to get at the ends. I'd leave those alone unless you are getting a definite leak there.
