So if I do try getting at it, do I go through the engine compartment, or do I go up under the dash from the inside?

From your comment, sounds like I've got to get the wiper motor out of the way first? (Which sounds like I have to go in from the engine side.)

Do you know what a new fan costs, or where i can go to get one?
