The OM606 motor has a nasty little problem that can occur when changing oil.
The oil that is being added must be added towards the front of motor (to go down the timing chain cavity. If directed towards the back and delivered with enough velocity (usually with pumped oil like at quik lubes) the oil will accumulate till the level reaches the metered oriface (crankcase vent to intake). The oil will flow from the head into the intake and hydro-lock the motor on starting. A number of rods have been bent from this.
Its possible that MB has redesigned this on later engines as they are well aware of it.
